The announcement, made via the show’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, revealed that Katsura appeared in the episode as the director of a “Gavan Show,” delighting fans of his work.

In the post, the show’s team shared:
"Guess what? In Episode 5, the original creator, Masakazu Katsura, made a surprise appearance as the 'Gavan Show' director. Did you notice?"

They also posted a still from his scene, where Katsura plays a small but notable role. Fans were quick to react:

What is Wingman About?

The original Wingman (1983–1985) tells the story of Kenta Hirono, a high school sophomore and tokusatsu (special effects hero) enthusiast. Kenta, played by Maito Fujioka in the drama, creates his own superhero called "Wingman" and even crafts the suit and weapons. His dream of becoming a hero comes true when he obtains the mysterious "Dream Note," allowing him to transform into Wingman for five minutes. The series follows his journey alongside Aoi (Konatsu Kato), a mysterious girl from the alternate world of Podrimus, who arrives on Earth.
