Japan Anime Trend Awards 2024 Returns with New Categories and Special Events
The Japan Anime Trend Awards 2024, one of the largest anime awards in Japan, will be held on December 26 at 7:00 PM JST, broadcast live for free on ABEMA. This year’s event promises to highlight 2024’s hottest anime titles, with special live performances and exclusive appearances, hosted once again by Yuuki Iwai from the comedy duo Haraichi.
Celebrating its second year, the Japan Anime Trend Awards will select the most buzzworthy anime of 2024, determined by data from platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Anime! Anime!, and ABEMA Anime. In a first, the event will also live-stream on X’s Trends section, bringing real-time access to fans nationwide.

Special Guests, Performances, and a Tribute to Ojamajo Doremi
The event will include a variety of interactive segments and special appearances from anime-loving celebrities. This year, a special tribute will be held for Ojamajo Doremi, celebrating its 25th anniversary with a live performance of iconic songs and newly recorded versions of fan favorites. Additional performances will feature hit songs from some of 2024’s most talked-about series, creating a unique celebration of anime music.
MC Yuuki Iwai Reflects on the Year in Anime
Returning as MC, Yuuki Iwai from Haraichi commented on the abundance of standout anime this season, expressing his excitement for the upcoming Anime of the Year selection. Iwai’s enthusiasm for 2024’s lineup is sure to make for a lively, memorable event.
Last year, Oshi no Ko took home the grand prize, along with awards for categories such as Anime Song, Anime News, Anime Merch, and Anime Buzz.
