Oshi no Ko Manga Concludes After 4.5 Years, New Projects Announced! Aka Akasaka’s New Series to Launch Next Spring

The popular manga Oshi no Ko (Original Story: Aka Akasaka, Art: Mengo Yokoyari) reached its finale in the Weekly Young Jump Issue 50 released on November 14, ending its 4.5-year serialization that began in April 2020. To commemorate the conclusion, special projects have been announced, including the release of the final Volume 16 on December 18, available in both standard and special editions.

Aka Akasaka’s New Series to Debut in 2025

A new manga series by Aka Akasaka has been announced for Weekly Young Jump starting in spring 2025. This new fantasy romance will feature a collaboration with artist Aoi Kujira and the four-artist team Ajichika, known for Record of Ragnarok. The story is set to unfold as a love story between a prince and princess in a magical world.

Exclusive Final Volume 16 with Special Edition Release

Volume 16 of Oshi no Ko will include a special edition cover and an exclusive 24-page bonus chapter revealing "a certain truth." The Oshi no Ko 16 SPECIAL EDITION set features an alternate cover design with foil accents, plus a collectible bookstand and stickers designed by Akasaka and Yokoyari.

YouTube Commemorative Movie and Special Fan Site

Starting at 7 PM on November 14, Young Jump’s official YouTube channel, “Young Jump Manga TV,” will release a commemorative movie for Oshi no Ko. This video revisits key moments from each arc and is set to the newly arranged version of "STAR☆T☆RAIN," performed by the new B-Komachi in Episode 11 of the anime.

A special fan site, “FAN ARENA,” will also open at 7 PM, allowing fans to submit messages about their favorite characters and the series. Messages will unlock downloadable wallpaper content, and the site will feature an “album” documenting the series from start to finish.

Special Tokyo Dome City Event: THE LAST STAGE

A promotional event titled Oshi no Ko: THE LAST STAGE in TOKYO DOME CITY will be held at Tokyo Dome City from December 18 to January 13. Under the theme “The Dream Stage for All Idols,” this event will showcase Oshi no Ko characters throughout the venue. A special display will be set up at the main gate of Tokyo Dome, featuring fan-submitted messages in a live-performance-themed video presentation.


New Official Community: Ichigo Pro Public Relations

The official Oshi no Ko community, “Ichigo Pro Public Relations,” will also open, allowing fans to share their thoughts, fan art, and interact with others. Fans can role-play as “public relations agents” for Ichigo Pro, the talent agency featured in the story, sharing their “oshi activities” with others in an interactive format with “likes” and comments.

About Oshi no Ko

Oshi no Ko explores the highs and lows of the entertainment industry. The story follows Gorou, an OB-GYN who idolizes starlet Ai Hoshino. After a tragic incident, he is reincarnated as Ai’s child and enters the entertainment industry himself. The manga has sold over 20 million copies, won the top prize in the 2021 Next Manga Awards, and was adapted into a hit anime series with themes like YOASOBI’s "Idol," attracting global attention. Following the success of the anime’s first two seasons, a third season is in production, along with a live-action drama set for exclusive release on Prime Video on November 28, a sequel film premiering on December 20, and a 2.5-dimensional stage adaptation in December.

Author Profiles

Aka Akasaka (Story)
Aka Akasaka began serializing his representative work Kaguya-sama: Love is War in Miracle Jump in May 2015, and in March 2016, the series moved to Weekly Young Jump, marking his first weekly serialization. He started Oshi no Ko in April 2020 in collaboration with Mengo Yokoyari. Despite simultaneously serializing two works, Kaguya-sama concluded in November 2022. Since then, Akasaka has focused on his career as a manga story writer.

Mengo Yokoyari (Art)
Mengo Yokoyari has been active primarily in seinen (young men's) magazines, starting You Are My Queen in Weekly Young Jump and other publications in January 2012. Her series Retort Pouch! began in Miracle Jump in April 2014, later moving to Weekly Young Jump in July 2017 and concluding in January 2019. Since April 2020, she has been collaborating with Aka Akasaka on Oshi no Ko in the same magazine.
