Tanaka has had a remarkable 46-year career as a voice actress, known for her roles as Krillin in Dragon Ball and Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece, earning her a beloved place among children. On stage, she accepted a bouquet and trophy with a smile. In her speech, Tanaka expressed, “I have always loved early childhood education and reading picture books aloud. Becoming a voice actress was a natural extension of that. If I can contribute, even in a small way, to helping children feel courage, friendship, and companionship, it truly brings me happiness.” Reflecting on the award, she added, “I’m deeply honored to receive this undeniably prestigious award.”
This year’s festival theme is “PLAY and PRAY for peace – May conflict disappear from the world,” featuring films for audiences of all ages, from infants experiencing their first movie to teens and adults. The festival runs from October 31 to November 5, with main screenings at iTSCOM STUDIO & HALL Futako Tamagawa Rise and 109 Cinemas Futako Tamagawa in Setagaya, Tokyo.
