Actors Tsukamoto Takashi, Ichinose Wataru, and DJ KOO Join the Cast of Cells at Work Movie
The upcoming Cells at Work movie, starring Mei Nagano and Takeru Satoh, set for release on December 13, has announced three new cast members: Takashi Tsukamoto, Wataru Ichinose, and DJ KOO.

Based on Akane Shimizu’s popular manga Cells at Work and its spinoff Cells at Work: BLACK, the movie is directed by Hideki Takeuchi, known for hits like Fly Me to the Saitama and Thermae Romae. Set within the human body, this action-packed story showcases the intricate workings of human cells in a new, dynamic way.
Character Roles and Actor Comments
Tsukamoto Takashi plays a crucial role as a neuron responsible for transmitting signals throughout the body of a high school girl, played by Mana Ashida. His character supports the white blood cells, led by Takeru Satoh’s character. Tsukamoto expressed his excitement, saying, "I hope this movie helps people take better care of their bodies!"
Wataru Ichinose takes on the humorous yet challenging role of the external anal sphincter muscle in the body of Ashida's father, played by Sadao Abe. Ichinose commented on the educational aspect of his role, saying, "I hope people will think of my scenes when they face similar situations!"
DJ KOO, a multi-talented music artist, plays a neuron responsible for transmitting electrical signals. Directed to bring his usual high energy to the role, DJ KOO shared how thrilled he was, especially with a personal connection to Cells at Work through his daughter’s medical studies.
