DeDeDeDe Anime Series with Alternate Ending and 18 Episodes Set for Blu-ray Release, Teaser Out Now

It has been announced that a new 18-episode anime series adaptation of Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction (commonly known as "DeDeDeDe") featuring an alternate ending has been completed. This series will be included in the Blu-ray Complete Box GAGA★ONLINE STORE Limited Complete Box, scheduled for release on December 4.

The ending of the movie's second chapter (released in May) was an entirely different and shocking conclusion, crafted by the original creator, Inio Asano, specifically for the theatrical release. However, the newly completed anime series delves into another timeline, set 16 years after the story of Kadode and Ouran, spread across 18 episodes.

In addition, a teaser video packed with the highlights of the anime series has been released. It features various episodes not shown in the movie, including the story of Ouran's brother Hiroshi (voiced by Junichi Suwabe) and high school student Yuminba as she prepares for her college entrance exams, the journalist Kate’s investigation of a mother and daughter living in a polluted area, and an intense robot battle in the devastated world following the "8.32" mothership explosion.

Furthermore, a one-night-only all-night screening event for the 18-episode anime series has been announced for November. Details will be revealed on the official website. More information about the screening schedule and guest appearances will be posted on the official site at a later date.

The original manga, by Inio Asano—known for his works like Solanin—was serialized in Weekly Big Comic Spirits starting in 2014. The story follows a group of girls living their daily lives and enjoying their youth, despite the looming presence of a massive alien mothership hovering above Tokyo. What once seemed like a catastrophic event gradually becomes part of everyday life. The manga won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the General category and the Excellence Award in the Manga Division of the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival. The series concluded in 2022 with 12 volumes.
