[New Anime] Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku (Flower and Asura) TV Anime Premieres January 2025: First PV and Cast Announced
The TV anime Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku (Flower and Asura) will begin airing in January 2025 on Nippon TV and other networks. Along with this announcement, the first PV, key visual, and cast information have been revealed.
The story follows Hana, who lives on the small island of Tonarijima, with a population of 600. She joins the broadcasting club at her high school and, together with her friends, deepens her passion for recitation. Written by Ayano Takeda, known for Sound! Euphonium, this youth drama delicately depicts the emotional growth of high school students, brought to life by up-and-coming author Musshu.
The key visual released shows an illustration of the club members practicing in a classroom after school, capturing a slice of their daily lives. In addition to Hana and Mizuki, the recently announced club members are featured, with Fuka Izumi as Ann Natsue, Shoya Chiba as Touga Syuudai, Seiichiro Yamashita as Matsuyuki Akiyama, Kiyono Yasuno as Ryoko Totonoi, and Taito Ban as Setaro Hakoyama.
Comments from the Cast: Ann Natsue (Voiced by Fuka Izumi)
"I'm Fuka Izumi, playing the role of Ann Natsue. During the audition, I found myself drawn into the story because of how interesting it was, and I couldn’t stop reading. Ann's confidence, grounded in her hard work, and her unwavering determination gradually reveal her cuteness, which made me love the character even more. I'm thrilled to be able to portray her! I will do my best to deliver Ann's efforts and talents through my voice, with a determination that matches hers!"
Touga Syuudai (Voiced by Shoya Chiba):
"As someone who is constantly thinking about what can be conveyed through words and voice, I was immediately captivated. I really wanted to be part of this project, so I’m extremely happy. I particularly enjoy how the protagonist's recitation scenes are expressed. Through the audition, I got to experience the original work, which made me reflect on the raw emotions and logic-based talent that resonates with me personally. Since it closely relates to voice acting, I feel a strong sense of responsibility. I sympathize with Syuudai’s honesty and refusal to compromise, and I hope to bring that to life in my portrayal of him. While his character evolves, I want to consistently portray the things that matter most to him, regardless of how his image shifts."
Matsuyuki Akiyama (Voiced by Seiichiro Yamashita):
"Since I work with words and language, I felt an especially deep connection and emotion when reading this story. As a voice actor now, I often think, 'I wish I had experienced acting and expression during my school days,' and this feels like I’m getting to relive that. The recording sessions perfectly capture the atmosphere of the broadcasting club. It’s filled with stimulation, discoveries, and learning. Matsuyuki Akiyama, who I’m portraying, is a broadcasting and announcement beginner, so I’m approaching this with the mindset of reviewing my fundamentals from the ground up. Hana's attitude of cherishing her love for what she does, even without confidence or courage, is something I deeply resonate with, and it moves me. I hope you’ll enjoy the original story as well, and I look forward to working on this project!"
Ryoko Totonoi (Voiced by Kiyono Yasuno):
"Ryoko Totonoi, the character I play, is a girl with a love for what she enjoys that runs as deep as the ocean. When I first read the original work, I instantly thought, 'I want to play this character.' I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to portray Ryoko, which feels like a happy twist of fate. As a member of the Sumomo Academy broadcasting club, and as the only reader who loves classical works, I hope to convey words filled with heart and meaning. Thank you for your support!"
Setaro Hakoyama (Voiced by Taito Ban):
"This story is about competing in a world where there’s no absolute 'right' answer when it comes to voices and sounds, which resonates deeply with me as a voice actor. The emotions of the characters—like their love for recitation and their desire not to lose—are portrayed with great passion. I think the beauty of this work is that depending on the viewer's background or life experiences, the way they relate to the characters will change dramatically. I’m really excited to play Setaro Hakoyama, who, despite being a delicate character, holds a unique position within the broadcasting club. I can't wait to see what kind of chemistry he creates with Hana and the other members!"
