The final results of the "2024 Sanrio Character Rankings" were announced at the 'SANRIO FES 2024' event held at Tokyo Big Sight on the 16th. Cinnamoroll achieved his first-ever five-year winning streak.
This year marks the 39th annual popularity vote for Sanrio characters. The total number of votes this year was a record-breaking 57,074,053 votes, about 128% of last year's total.

Cinnamoroll, who ranked first last year, achieved his first-ever five-year winning streak. Although he was temporarily overtaken by Pochacco in the initial report, Cinnamoroll regained the top spot in the midterm results and collected an overwhelming number of votes, surpassing 5 million and leading by over 1 million votes ahead of the second place. This five-year winning streak is the second-longest in history, following Hello Kitty’s 12-year streak (1998-2009) and tying with Pochacco’s five-year streak (1991-1995).

Pochacco, celebrating his 35th anniversary, came in second place (last year's fourth place), entering the top 2 for the first time in 28 years during his anniversary year. Kuromi ranked third (same as last year). Despite not being in the top 3 in the initial and midterm results, Kuromi showed persistence. Additionally, Keroppi (last year's 12th place) ranked seventh, entering the top 10 for the first time in 12 years, and Ahiru no Pekkle (last year's 16th place) achieved his highest position in 30 years at 11th place, showing strong performances from members of the "Hapidanbui."

Furthermore, Hanamaru Obake, who debuted last year from the user-participation project "NEXT KAWAII PROJECT," made an impressive entry at 14th place. Fresh characters are showing remarkable progress.
