The midterm rankings for the "2024 Sanrio Character Ranking," a popularity voting event for Sanrio characters, were announced on May 9th. "Cinnamoroll" has overtaken "Pochacco," who was initially in the first place in the early reports.

In the initial report, "Pochacco," celebrating its 35th debut anniversary this year, made a significant jump from fourth place last year to the top of the early reports. However, "Cinnamoroll" (last year's winner) moved from second place in the early reports to first place in the midterms, aiming for its first five consecutive wins.

The rankings are dominated by Sanrio's three major "dog characters," with "Pochacco" in second place (up from fourth last year) and "Pompompurin" in third (last year's second place). Meanwhile, "Hello Kitty," celebrating its 50th anniversary this year (last year's fifth place), has also moved up in the rankings to fourth place.

"Ahiru no Pekkle," making its first top-10 appearance and a significant leap from sixteenth place last year, maintained its ninth place in the midterm rankings without losing momentum. "Kerokerokeroppi" (last year's twelfth place), not in the top 10 in the initial reports, has risen to seventh place, and the newcomer "Hanamaru Obake" has achieved fourteenth place in a highly competitive midterm ranking.

This voting event began on April 11th. The current results were compiled based on web votes up to 11:59 PM on May 6th and the results from Sanrio shops (excluding some stores) up to April 30th. Voting continues until May 26th, with the final results to be announced at "SANRIO FES 2024" held at Tokyo Big Sight on June 16th.

Voting is open until May 26th.
