[Studio Ghibli President Moved] Look Back' Film Releases New PV with Rainy Skip Scene
The new promotional video (PV) and information about the second visitor special gift for the animated film 'Look Back' (released on June 28) have been revealed.
The newly released commemorative PV showcases Fujino and Kyomoto, who met fatefully and are earnestly drawing manga. As they enter manga competitions and steadily improve, Kyomoto confesses that she wants to try living independently without relying on Fujino. They part ways and eventually face a shocking event.
The new PV also features many new cuts, including the iconic scene from the original manga where Fujino skips in the rain, now finally revealed.
Additionally, Toshio Suzuki (Studio Ghibli), who watched the film, commented, "Who is the work drawn for? The answer is in the film." Artist Yoshitomo Nara said, "Although I was deeply moved to tears by reading the manga, when the voices in the anime brought the characters to life, my heart was stirred, and by the end, I found myself deeply moved again."
'Look Back,' created by Tatsuki Fujimoto, author of 'Chainsaw Man,' is a growth story about fourth-grader Fujino and her truant classmate Kyomoto through their shared passion for manga. The story begins with their four-panel comic being published in the school newspaper and follows their lives through middle school and high school until a life-altering event occurs.
Published as a 143-page one-shot on 'Shonen Jump+' on July 19, 2021, the manga received immense acclaim, with readers calling it "genius" and "too shocking for words," and it recorded over 2.5 million views on its first day. It was ranked first in the 'This Manga is Amazing! 2022' men's edition and was also nominated for the 'Manga Taisho 2022.' The film stars Yuumi Kawai and Mitsuki Yoshida.
