【Music】 ONE PIECE Collaborates with Mr.Children After 15 Years; Kuma’s Life Matches the Iconic Song “HERO”! Six-Minute Video Released
To commemorate the release of the 109th volume of the manga "ONE PIECE" (author: Eiichiro Oda) on the 4th, a special collaboration video featuring Mr.Children’s famous song “HERO” has been released. This collaboration marks the first time in 15 years since their song “fanfare” was the theme song for "ONE PIECE FILM STRONG WORLD" in 2009.
Volume 109 of "ONE PIECE" delves into the dramatic past of former Warlord Bartholomew Kuma, exploring the story of him and his “daughter” Jewelry Bonney. Mr.Children’s song “HERO,” released on December 11, 2002, is a well-known hit, and its lyrics remarkably align with the life of Bartholomew Kuma. This connection is illustrated in a six-minute movie.
"ONE PIECE" began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" on July 22, 1997. It is a maritime adventure story revolving around the legendary treasure left by the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, known as the "One Piece." The story follows the protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, who gains the ability to stretch like rubber after eating the Devil Fruit "Gomu Gomu no Mi." Together with his gathered crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy embarks on a grand journey to become the Pirate King.
The manga has surpassed 510 million copies in circulation worldwide, and it will celebrate its 27th anniversary of serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" on July 22.
