Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 2 Reveals 18 New Stills; “Gold Foil Graduation Cards” Announced as Theater Bonuses

Eighteen new stills from Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 2, which opens in Japan on September 11, have been unveiled. Theatergoer bonuses for the film’s first and second weeks in Japan have also been announced, with “Gold Foil Graduation Cards” to be distributed to audiences.

The first-week lineup, available beginning September 11, features six characters: Kumiko, Hazuki, Mayu, Nozomi, Natsuki, and Asuka. The second-week lineup, available from September 18, features another six: Reina, Sapphire, Kanade, Mizore, Yuko, Kaho. Theatergoers will receive one card at random.

The cards feature newly drawn illustrations of the popular characters dressed in colorful haregi—formal Japanese attire for special occasions—with each character wearing a different color and pattern. As the name suggests, the borders surrounding the illustrations are stamped with gold foil, creating an especially luxurious design that complements the characters’ vibrant formal attire.

The 18 newly released stills include scenes newly depicted for the film, such as the school festival and graduation ceremony, as well as the Kitauji High School Concert Band preparing to compete at the National Competition. Among them are interactions between protagonist Kumiko Oumae and key character Mayu Kuroe that were not depicted in the TV anime. The images capture the final moments of Kumiko and her friends’ high school youth, as well as their determination to win a Gold Award at the National Competition.

Sound! Euphonium is Kyoto Animation’s hugely popular concert band anime series, a coming-of-age story following protagonist Kumiko Oumae and her experiences as a member of the Kitauji High School Concert Band. Since the first TV anime season premiered in April 2015, the franchise has produced three television seasons as well as five theatrical films, special editions, and spin-off films, and celebrated its 10th anniversary last year.

Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 1 is currently screening in theaters, while Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 2 will open on September 11, finally bringing the story of the Kitauji High School Concert Band to its conclusion.
