Toei Animation Responds to Dragon Ball Theme Park Reports in France: “We Are Not Aware of Any Such Facts”

Toei Animation has addressed reports of a Dragon Ball theme park in France, saying it is not aware of any facts supporting the claims.

Toei Animation Says No License Has Been Granted

Toei Animation updated its official website to respond to reports claiming that construction of a Dragon Ball theme park in France had been decided, explaining that the company is not aware of any such facts.

In a statement titled “Our Position Regarding Reports of a Dragon Ball Theme Park in France,” the company said:

“Some media reports have recently stated that it has been decided that a Dragon Ball theme park will be built in France. However, neither Toei Animation nor the other companies that hold rights related to the property have granted any license for such a project, and we are not aware of any facts regarding the matter.”

The company continued:

“Furthermore, all of the theme park concept images and footage used in these reports were originally used in the joint announcement made by Qiddiya Investment Company and Toei Animation on March 22, 2024. They relate to the theme park planned for construction in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia. These images and videos have no connection whatsoever to the reports in question.”

Reports Emerged Over Possible Dragon Ball Attraction Near Paris

The controversy began last month when overseas media reported on August 25 that an entertainment facility themed around the popular manga Dragon Ball could potentially be built in the suburbs of Paris.

French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held talks, with reports stating that an agreement had been reached to develop three theme parks in the Paris suburbs. According to local media, one of the three facilities was reported to be an entertainment venue themed around Dragon Ball.

Regarding the theme park project, Macron wrote on X:

“Together with Saudi Arabia, we are making an unprecedented announcement. Three theme parks will be created in Cergy Pontoise. An investment of 6 billion euros. Creation of 22,000 jobs. A scale not seen since Disneyland Paris.”
