New Dragon Ball Game Announced for 2027 – Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Revealed with New Akira Toriyama Characters

The latest game in the popular Dragon Ball franchise, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, has been officially announced for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and STEAM. A new trailer has also been unveiled.

The game is part of the newly announced project “AGE 1000,” revealed earlier this January. Set in a brand-new Dragon Ball world called “AGE 1000,” the game features original characters designed by Akira Toriyama.

In “AGE 1000,” West City has grown into a thriving metropolis full of energy and life. As players explore the vibrant streets, they will encounter new allies and experiences. Together with their companions, players will join the “GS Squad (Great Saiyaman Squad)” and uncover a brand-new story unfolding in West City.

Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump starting in 1984 for over 10 years, Dragon Ball remains one of Japan’s most iconic manga series. Its volumes have surpassed 260 million copies in circulation worldwide. Even after the manga concluded, the franchise has continued to captivate fans through anime, films, games, and other media.

In 2013, the theatrical film series returned for the first time in 17 years, achieving major box office success. This was followed by Dragon Ball Super in 2015, based on original concepts by creator Akira Toriyama. In 2022, the film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was released, and the TV anime Dragon Ball DAIMA aired from October 2024 to February 2025. A new anime, Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol, has also been confirmed to be in production.
