With these connections coming together, Yonezu’s participation in the film was decided. His distinctive guitar sound can be heard in one particular scene in the film. The scene in question can only be experienced in the full movie.
Look Back Follows Fujino and Kyomoto Across 13 Years
Look Back tells the story of Fujino, who has absolute confidence in her manga skills, and Kyomoto, who admires Fujino while possessing extraordinary artistic talent of her own. The two are brought together by their wholehearted passion for manga, until an unexpected event changes their lives.
As in the original manga, the film begins during their elementary school years and delicately portrays the 13 years they spend moving forward together. The official English description of the original manga likewise introduces Fujino and Kyomoto as two girls connected through their love of drawing manga.
