My Hero Academia Short Anime “I am a hero too” Streams August 3 as High School Student Eri Pursues Her Dream

The new My Hero Academia special short anime “I am a hero too” will begin streaming on video platforms at 12:00 a.m. on August 3. Preview stills from the anime have also been released.

Eri Returns as a High School Student

“I am a hero too” is based on a special short one shot written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi for inclusion in the official fanbook My Hero Academia Ultra Age.

Eri was rescued by Deku from Kai Chisaki, also known as Overhaul, the young head of the Shie Hassaikai, during the Hero Internship and Shie Hassaikai Arc in the anime’s fourth season.

Eight years after Deku and his classmates graduated from U.A. High School, Eri has grown into a high school student herself. As a child, she said that she wanted to sing, and she was also shown smiling with a guitar case on her back in the final chapter. The new anime follows Eri as she visits U.A. High School one day and once again begins moving toward her dream.

About My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia takes place in a world where supernatural abilities known as Quirks have become commonplace. The story follows protagonist Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku, as he trains to become a hero who protects society and confronts criminals known as Villains who misuse their Quirks. Alongside his classmates, he grows as a hero at the prestigious U.A. High School.

The original manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014 and concluded on August 5, 2024. The series has more than 100 million copies in circulation.

The television anime premiered in April 2016. Eight seasons were produced, and the series aired its final episode on December 13, 2025.
