My Hero Academia Creator Kohei Horikoshi Returns With 61 Page Horror One Shot in August

My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi will publish a new one shot manga, Waranaide yo Shijima-san, in August.

Kohei Horikoshi’s First One Shot Since My Hero Academia Ended

The new one shot, titled Waranaide yo Shijima san, will appear in the oversized combined Issue 37 and 38 of Weekly Shonen Jump, which goes on sale in Japan on August 10. It will be Horikoshi’s first published one shot since My Hero Academia concluded in August 2024.

Waranaide yo Shijima san is described as a “boy meets girl horror” story. It will span 61 pages and feature a center color page. The newly released illustration depicts the story’s protagonist and heroine.

The same issue will also include a feature celebrating the 50th anniversary of KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops. Supervised by horror novelist Sesuji, the KochiKame feature will span six pages.

The issue will also come with a special bound in illustration card featuring newly drawn artwork by KochiKame creator Osamu Akimoto.

Kohei Horikoshi’s Manga Career

Horikoshi was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1986. In 2006, he received an honorable mention in the 72nd Tezuka Award for Nukegara.

He made his one shot debut when Tenko was published in Akamaru Jump in 2007. His one shot My Hero followed in the same magazine in 2008.

Horikoshi made his Weekly Shonen Jump serialization debut with Oumagadoki Zoo in 2010. After serializing Barrage in 2012, he launched My Hero Academia in 2014 and brought the series to an end in 2024.
