Mobile Suit Gundam Wing × Code Geass Launches Full Scale Collaboration Manga, Britannia Overwhelms Mobile Suits After Prince Clovis’s Death

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing × Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Minuet Zero, a new collaboration manga bringing together the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, has begun serialization on Comic Newtype.

The manga is illustrated by Tomofumi Ogasawara, known for Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz: Glory of the Losers and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Re;. The project marks the arrival of a remarkable crossover comic between the two franchises.

The Britannian Empire Expands Its Power

The story begins with Operation Meteor, which eventually develops into an all out war between the Earth forces and White Fang, an armed organization representing the colonies. Five boys piloting Gundams attempt to stop the conflict.

The intervention of the Gundams prevents the worst possible outcome, bringing the war to an end.

Although humanity appears to have begun moving toward peace, conflict among people does not disappear. As the Alliance forces are exhausted by their struggle against the colonies, the Holy Britannian Empire, which had remained silent until then, begins expanding its influence.

Britannia occupies Japan, home to the world’s largest reserves of sakuradite, and uses its abundant resources to overpower mobile suits.

The manga takes place after the death of Prince Clovis and includes a scene depicting Suzaku Kururugi being arrested.

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing began airing on television on April 7, 1995, as the second entry in the Alternative Series, which depicts a setting separate from the Universal Century timeline. The series celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.

Its story opens dynamically with five Gundams suddenly launching attacks against a massive military power, followed by an unrelenting series of developments that continues through the final episode. It was also the first Gundam television series to be broadcast in the United States.

Code Geass Remains a Landmark Anime of the 2000s

The Code Geass franchise began with the 25 episode television anime Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion in 2006, followed by the 25 episode sequel Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 in 2008.

The franchise has expanded through spin offs, manga adaptations, games, and stage productions.

It is widely regarded as one of the defining anime series of the 2000s. In 2017, it ranked seventh in NHK’s Best Anime 100 poll, which asked viewers to select their favorite anime from approximately 10,000 titles produced in Japan.
