The Code Geass franchise marks its twentieth anniversary in 2026, and to celebrate the milestone, a wave of new announcements has been released. The highlights include the production of the brand new anime Code Geass: Hoshioi no Aspar (JP: 星追いノアスパル, literally: The Star-Chasing Aspar) and confirmation that Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture will air on television starting July 2026.

A Completely New Chapter with Fresh Creative Staff

The newly announced Code Geass: Hoshioi no Aspar brings together an entirely new creative team, with Kazuya Nomura directing, Mado Nozaki handling series composition, and character designs by Rorua. The work is positioned as a new chapter that reimagines the world of Code Geass itself.

Rozé of the Recapture Set for TV Broadcast

Rozé of the Recapture, which premiered theatrically across Japan in 2024 and is currently streaming on Disney Plus, will finally receive a long-awaited TV broadcast. The series will air as a 12-episode run, with further broadcast details to be announced.

The cast includes Kohei Amasaki, Makoto Furukawa, and Reina Ueda, while the music is composed by Kenji Kawai. The opening theme is MIYAVI’s Running In My Head, and the ending theme is Rozé (Prod. TeddyLoid) performed by Hikari Mitsushima.

Anniversary Exhibition and Extensive Merchandise

A large-scale 20th anniversary exhibition is also planned, opening in Tokyo in September 2026 and in Osaka in November. A wide lineup of commemorative merchandise will be released, including the HG Zi-Apollo model kit, new S.H.Figuarts articulated figures, prize figures of C.C. and Lelouch, and items from the Lookup series.

New Manga Collaboration Between Code Geass and Gundam Wing

A collaboration manga project between Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is underway. The crossover will be drawn by Satoshi Ogasawara, introducing a new interpretation of both universes.

Stage Adaptation Continues with a Second Production

The stage adaptation project also moves forward. The second installment of the musical Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion — The Knight Who Abides by Justice, which premiered in 2023, will be staged in Osaka and Tokyo in January 2026. Popular cast members including Koji Kominami and Ryotaro Akazawa will return.

Full 50-Episode TV Anime Streaming for Free

Beginning December 28, 2025, all 50 episodes of the original Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion TV series will be available for free on YouTube. Episodes will premiere every Saturday and Sunday at 9 p.m. Japan time and remain accessible for ten days each. Availability outside Japan has not yet been confirmed.

Since debuting in 2006, the Code Geass series has produced numerous titles including Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, Akito the Exiled, and Lelouch of the Re;surrection. The franchise continues to expand across anime, games, and stage productions, and its twentieth anniversary marks the launch of its most ambitious project to date.
