The Cat and the Dragon Episode 1 Story & Preview Cuts Released: A Mother Cat Decides to Raise a Baby Dragon

The story and preview images for Episode 1 of the TV anime The Cat and the Dragon (JP: 猫と竜) have been revealed. This episode will air on Saturday, July 4 at 9:00 PM (JST), and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 1 Synopsis

Deep in the heart of a deep forest where magical beasts roam, a certain mother cat was about to give birth. While she successfully gave birth to her kittens in a warm cave, crawling out from under a pile of dried leaves was unexpectedly a tiny, fire-breathing baby dragon. The dragon child had lost its real mother immediately after being born. The mother cat resolves to cross the boundaries of species and raise the baby dragon as her own child.

Introduction

Deep, deep within the forest, a single fire-breathing dragon lives alongside magic-wielding cats. Having lost its biological parents before being born, the dragon was raised by a mother cat it met by chance. The cats welcomed the dragon into their family, treating it simply as a "slightly unusual cat" that could fly through the sky and breathe fire.

The ways of life among these highly inquisitive forest cats are as varied as the felines themselves—truly "ten cats, ten colors". As if repaying its debt of gratitude to its adoptive mother, the dragon stays close to the forest cats, constantly watching over them. The cats affectionately call the dragon "Uncle Wings" and look up to him. Meanwhile, humans look upon him with awe and fear, calling him "Nekoryu"...

This is a heartwarming, yet slightly bittersweet tale of a wondrous bond woven together by a dragon raised by cats, the felines themselves, and humanity.
