Animate Expands to the Philippines with First Manila Store, Marking Third Southeast Asia Location

Anime specialty retailer Animate will open its first ever store in the Philippines, “Animate Manila,” in 2026. The expansion marks the company’s third location in Southeast Asia following Thailand and Malaysia, as Animate continues accelerating its global growth strategy.

Animate currently operates 126 stores across Japan and has expanded into 17 cities overseas. With anime popularity continuing to rise worldwide, the company has been strengthening its presence throughout the Asian market.

Animate Manila to Open in Makati’s One Ayala Complex

The new “Animate Manila” store will be located inside One Ayala, a major commercial complex in Makati City, one of the economic centers of Metro Manila in the Philippines.

One Ayala offers direct access to the MRT Ayala Station and also includes a bus terminal, making it a highly accessible destination. The location is expected to attract not only local anime fans, but also office workers and shoppers in the surrounding area.

Wide Selection of Anime Goods and Japanese Content

The store plans to offer a broad lineup of products including globally popular character merchandise, books, and audiovisual products.

As interest in Japanese entertainment content continues growing in the Philippines, Animate Manila is also expected to become a new cultural hub for anime and manga fans in the region.

Further details including the official opening date and additional store information will be announced at a later time.
