Witch Hat Atelier Episode 3 Story & Preview Cuts Released: Agott Sets a Difficult Trial for Coco

The story and preview images for Episode 3 of the TV anime Witch Hat Atelier (JP: とんがり帽子のアトリエ) have been revealed. This episode will air in Japan on Friday, April 20 at 11:00 PM (JST), and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 3 Story

Agott is displeased that Coco, an "Unknowant" (a normal person who originally lacks the qualification to become a witch), has been welcomed as an apprentice. Agott tells Coco that if she wants to be recognized as a peer, she must take and pass "The King's Permission," a trial for witch apprenticeship, while Qifrey is away. Coco sets out alone with unsteady steps toward the trial's destination, only to find the Great Dada Range standing in her way.

"Magic"—it is crucial for people to live an abundant life—a handy miracle.
However, witches are the only ones who can cast magic,
and they must not be seen by ordinary people when casting.
That is the rule of this world.

Yet, Coco, a young girl living in a small village helping her mother with daily chores,
has always dreamed of becoming a witch since childhood.

One day, when a young witch named Qifery visits the village,
Coco secretly watches him using magic and uncovers a great secret.

It was the "absolute secret" that the witches kept from the world,
that anyone could use magic if they draw a Casting Seal with special tools. Born as an Outsider,
Coco becomes Qifery's apprentice and begins studying magic.
As she learns and grows together with her fellow apprentices in the atelier,
she gradually steps into the secretive world of witches.

This is the story of children who encounter despair, yet reach out toward hope.
