The Elusive Samurai Season 2 Set for July Release; Special PV Reveals Tadayoshi Ashikaga and More
It has been announced that Season 2 of the TV anime The Elusive Samurai (JP: 逃げ上手の若君) will begin airing this July, with broadcasts scheduled every Friday at 11:30 PM (JST). Alongside the announcement, a key visual and special promotional video have also been released.

The newly revealed key visual depicts Tokiyuki and the Elusive Warriors enjoying a lively meal together with Yorishige and members of the Suwa faction, highlighting a rare moment of warmth and camaraderie.
The special PV features memorable scenes from Season 1, while also introducing new characters and developments. Among them are Tadayoshi Ashikaga, brother of Takauji Ashikaga and the man responsible for governing Kamakura, and the Kanto Hisashiban, a warrior group under his command. The footage teases upcoming storylines and the growing roles of these characters in the new season.
The Elusive Samurai is based on the manga of the same name, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from January 2021 to February 2026. It is the latest work by Yusei Matsui, known for Neuro: Supernatural Detective and Assassination Classroom. Set in Kamakura in 1333, the story follows Hojo Tokiyuki, the final heir of the Kamakura shogunate, and a young warrior renowned as “the greatest master of escape.” The manga has surpassed 5 million copies in circulation, and its first anime season aired from July to September 2024.
