Detective Conan’s Ran Voice Actor Wakana Yamazaki Announces Hiatus; ONE PIECE’s Akemi Okamura to Step In
Detective Conan has announced that Wakana Yamazaki, the voice of Ran Mouri, will suspend her activities due to health concerns, with ONE PIECE’s Akemi Okamura stepping in as her replacement.

On the 16th, the official website of the anime Detective Conan revealed that Yamazaki will take a temporary hiatus due to health issues. Okamura has been appointed to voice Ran during her absence.
In a statement issued by the television and theatrical anime production staff under the title “Notice Regarding Wakana Yamazaki, Voice of Ran Mouri,” it was confirmed that Yamazaki will suspend activities for the time being. The staff emphasized that her health is their top priority and expressed sincere wishes for her recovery, acknowledging her long standing support of the series.
The announcement further explained that Akemi Okamura will assume the role of Ran Mouri until Yamazaki returns. For the TV series, the transition to Okamura’s performance is scheduled to begin with the episode airing on March 14, 2026.
Regarding the upcoming 2026 theatrical film Detective Conan Fallen Angel of the Highway, the staff confirmed that Yamazaki has already completed her recordings and will appear in the film as originally planned.
The statement concluded by expressing hope that Yamazaki will soon regain her health and return to the role, and asked fans for their understanding regarding future broadcasts and production.
Akemi Okamura was born on March 12 in Tokyo. Her major roles include Nami in ONE PIECE, Fio Piccolo in Porco Rosso, and Risa Koizumi in Love Com.
