In a touching full circle moment for ONE PIECE fans, Wakana Yamazaki, known as Nojiko in ONE PIECE and Ran Mouri in Detective Conan, has announced a temporary hiatus due to health concerns, with Akemi Okamura stepping in as her replacement.

On the 16th, the official website of the anime Detective Conan announced that Wakana Yamazaki, who voices Ran Mouri, will suspend her activities for the time being due to health issues. It was also revealed that Akemi Okamura will serve as her replacement during her absence.
Yamazaki and Okamura previously portrayed adoptive sisters in ONE PIECE, with Yamazaki voicing Nojiko and Okamura voicing Nami. In the past, when Okamura took maternity leave, Yamazaki stepped in to voice Nami. This time, Okamura will return the favor by temporarily taking over the role of Ran.

Official Statement from Detective Conan Staff
Regarding Yamazaki’s hiatus, the official Detective Conan website published a statement titled “Notice Regarding Wakana Yamazaki, Voice of Ran Mouri,” issued by the TV and theatrical anime production staff.
The statement explained that Yamazaki will suspend activities for the time being due to health issues. The staff emphasized that her well being is their top priority and expressed sincere wishes for her recovery, acknowledging her long standing support of the series.
It was further announced that Akemi Okamura will voice Ran Mouri during Yamazaki’s absence. For the television series, the change will take effect starting with the episode airing on March 14, 2026.
As for the upcoming theatrical film Detective Conan: The Fallen Angel of the Highway, scheduled for release in 2026, the staff confirmed that Yamazaki has already completed her recordings and will appear in the film as planned.
