BAKI-DOU Anime Unveils Ukiyo-e Visual of Baki vs Musashi in a Reimagined Battle of Ganryujima

The Baki-Dou anime, set for worldwide exclusive streaming on Netflix from the 26th, has revealed a striking ukiyo-e style visual depicting the battle between Baki Hanma and Miyamoto Musashi.

Created by Sapporo based illustrator KOJIMAN, known for blending traditional Japanese ukiyo-e aesthetics with street culture, the artwork reimagines a historic masterpiece. It draws inspiration from the real ukiyo-e print Kyushu Ganryujima Miyamoto Musashi Sasaki Ganryu Duel by Yoshitora Utagawa, which portrays the legendary duel between Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro at Ganryujima. In this newly unveiled version, the iconic composition is transformed into a dramatic face off between Baki and Musashi.

A Dynamic Ukiyo-e Interpretation of Baki and Musashi

In the visual, Baki launches into the air wrapped in a red aura, poised to unleash a powerful kick. Opposing him stands Musashi, surrounded by a blue aura and wielding two swords in his signature dual blade stance. The vivid contrast of red and blue energy heightens the tension of the scene.

In the background, among the gathered onlookers, keen eyed fans may notice familiar characters who also engage in fierce battles against Musashi within the story. The composition captures the intensity and scale of this new Ganryujima battle between the strongest underground arena champion, Baki Hanma, and the ultimate symbol of strength, Miyamoto Musashi.

The dynamic ukiyo-e presentation further amplifies anticipation for the climactic showdown that unfolds in the series.

Additionally, a special program titled Anime Baki Dou Streaming Launch Special Program The Strongest Behind the Scenes Stories Finally Revealed will stream on the 20th at 8 PM. Voice actors Nobunaga Shimazaki and Naoya Uchida will appear to share exclusive behind the scenes stories.

Based on the manga by Keisuke Itagaki, originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion from 2014 to 2018, the series follows events after the conclusion of the strongest father and son battle on earth. Animation production is once again handled by TMS Entertainment, continuing from Baki and Baki Hanma.
