Shueisha Establishes Manga Award Exclusively for Teenagers; Jump+ Editorial Team Says "Youth is a Very Powerful Weapon"

On the 14th, Shueisha announced the creation of a new manga award aimed at teenage manga artists, regardless of professional or amateur status. The new award, "Shonen Jump+ presents Create 10 Pages and You Can Enter: A Manga Award for Teenagers," targets teenage manga artists. As long as a work has a minimum of 10 completed pages, the rest can be submitted as storyboards (rough drafts, story outlines).

Artists have the freedom to choose which pages to complete. They can focus on the pages they are most confident in to highlight their skills. This award is accessible even to those who struggle to find time for drawing due to school, club activities, or part-time jobs, as well as to those who have never drawn manga before.

Winners of the Grand Prize and Second Prize will receive prize money and a guaranteed publication of their fully completed work on "Shonen Jump+." Additionally, over ten Encouragement Awards will be selected, each receiving a 50,000 yen book voucher or movie gift card as a supplementary prize.

The Shonen Jump+ editorial team commented, "Youth is not essential to becoming a manga artist, but it is a very powerful weapon. It is also something that will inevitably be lost. We look forward to the participation of young artists."
