Star Detective Precure! Episode 1 Story & Preview Cuts Released: Searching for a Lost Tiara at a Wedding Venue

The story and preview images for Episode 1 of the new TV anime Star Detective Precure! (JP: 名探偵プリキュア！), the 23rd installment in the long-running Precure franchise, have been revealed. The series is set to begin airing on February 1.

Episode 1 Story

Episode 1, titled “The Birth of Star Detective Precure!”, follows Anna Akechi, who has just turned 14 and returned home with her mother to celebrate her birthday. When Anna notices a pendant left in her room, she assumes it is a gift from her mother and puts it on. Suddenly, a mysterious fairy appears before her.

The fairy, who introduces himself as Pochitan, asks Anna to come with him and help him, saying, “Please come with me and help me, poch!” As the pendant begins to glow, Anna and Pochitan are enveloped in light.

Anna later finds herself having fallen into an unfamiliar place, where she meets Mikuru Kobayashi, a girl who dreams of becoming a detective. Mistaking Anna and Pochitan for examiners of a “detective test,” Mikuru notices that Anna is not wearing any shoes and suggests they go buy some together. However, while Anna is choosing shoes, Pochitan suddenly runs off.

Chasing after him, they arrive at a wedding venue, where a bride is in distress after losing her precious tiara. Anna offers to help, and together with Mikuru, begins searching for the missing tiara.

New character details have been unveiled, revealing that the protagonist Anna Akechi transforms into Cure Answer, a brilliant detective themed Precure dressed in purple. While several Precure characters with purple color schemes such as Cure Kyun Kyun and Cure Majesty have appeared in past installments, this marks the first time in the series history that the main protagonist herself has been assigned purple as her official character color.

Introduction

Star Detective Precure introduces the first detective themed Precure storyline in the franchise and is set primarily in 1999. The protagonist Anna Akechi is a 14 year old second year middle school student living in Makoto Mirai Town. On her birthday, she encounters a fairy named Pochitan and is guided by a mysterious pendant found in her room, triggering a time slip from the year 2027 back to Makoto Mirai City in 1999.

There, Anna meets another 14 year old girl, Mikuru Kobayashi, who dreams of becoming a great detective. When a series of incidents begin to occur, the two girls find themselves unable to ignore people suffering from stolen treasured possessions. Together, they transform into the Star Detective Precure, solving mysteries with the catchphrase “That mystery will be cured” while protecting smiles through sharp deduction and searching for clues that may allow Anna to return to her original time.
