Blue Lock Live Action Film Reveals First Visual With the Tagline “Ego Assembles”

Blue Lock live action film has unveiled its first official visual through the movie’s official X account, drawing immediate attention from fans.

The visual was revealed alongside the tagline “Ego Assembles,” signaling the intense competitive spirit that defines the series. Scheduled for release in summer 2026, the film has yet to announce its cast. The newly released image features a striking illustration style, with characters depicted with prominently emphasized eyes, leaving a strong visual impression.

The live action adaptation of Blue Lock is being produced by CREDEUS, a studio known for major live action hits such as Kingdom, Golden Kamuy, and Kokuhou. CREDEUS CEO Shinzo Matsuhashi commented on the project, stating that he was captivated by the raw energy of the original manga and its unmistakably Japanese, highly original storytelling. He explained that the project officially began full scale development in 2022, with extensive discussions held repeatedly during the scriptwriting process in close collaboration with original creators Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura.

Matsuhashi also emphasized the importance of realism when portraying the powerful egos of the characters. For the live action adaptation, more than 1,000 actors auditioned in a large scale casting process. The selection criteria focused not only on soccer experience, visuals, and acting ability, but also on personal character.

He further revealed that the cast began intensive training approximately a year and a half before filming, practicing under the guidance of professional soccer players. Through this process, they transformed into true “egoists” reminiscent of the original work. Matsuhashi expressed strong confidence in the production, stating that the team is pursuing expressions unique to live action while respecting everything the original series has built, aiming to deliver a new era of entertainment.

Blue Lock is a soccer manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. The story follows Yoichi Isagi, an unknown high school forward who enters a fierce survival competition against rival strikers in pursuit of revolutionizing Japanese soccer.

The story is set in the “Blue Lock” project, launched by the Japan Football Union to develop a striker capable of leading Japan to victory in the World Cup. Three hundred high school forwards from across the country are gathered and forced to compete in an unforgiving survival program where only the strongest will remain.

The manga has surpassed 50 million copies in circulation. The TV anime aired its first season from October 2022 to March 2023, followed by a second season from October to December 2024. The franchise has expanded into a game in 2022, a stage adaptation in 2023, an upcoming anime sequel, and is now set to release its live action film in summer 2026.
