New Film “Godzilla Minus Zero” Set for Worldwide Release on November 3, With New Visual and Staff Revealed

Godzilla Minus Zero has officially been set for release on November 3, known as Godzilla Day, marking the anniversary of the franchise’s very first film. Alongside the announcement, a new key visual has also been unveiled.

November 3 holds special significance for fans, as it marks the original release date of the first Godzilla film in 1954. For decades, this date has been celebrated annually as Godzilla Day. Seventy two years after the debut of the original film, and three years after the November 3, 2023 release of Godzilla Minus One, which ignited a global Godzilla phenomenon, the next chapter has now been confirmed.

Following the success of Godzilla Minus One, director Takashi Yamazaki once again serves as director, screenwriter, and visual effects supervisor on Godzilla Minus Zero, continuing his distinctive creative vision for the franchise.

Historic Near Simultaneous Release in Japan and North America

It was also announced that the film will open in North America on November 6, the same week as its Japanese release. This marks the first time in the long history of Japan produced Godzilla films that a release in Japan and the United States will occur within the same timeframe. Release dates for additional regions are expected to be announced sequentially.


Godzilla Series

Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, Godzilla Minus One was produced as the official 70th anniversary project of the Godzilla franchise and stands as the 30th live action Godzilla film produced in Japan. The film achieved box office revenue exceeding 7.65 billion yen and earned widespread international acclaim.

Among its many honors, the film won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards, becoming the first Asian production to receive the award. In total, it secured more than 50 top prizes at film festivals and award ceremonies both in Japan and overseas, cementing Godzilla’s return as a global cinematic force.
