Dragon Quest VII Official Sequel Manga Begins Serialization After 20 Years, Featuring New Illustration by Kamui Fujiwara
Dragon Quest VII returns with a long awaited continuation as the official sequel manga DRAGON QUEST EDEN has begun serialization, marking its first new installment in approximately 20 years. The new manga series launched in the January 5 2026 issue of Young Gangan. It serves as the direct sequel to Dragon Quest Eden no Senshi tachi, which concluded in December 2005, making this a highly anticipated revival for long time fans of the franchise.

The manga is once again created by Kamui Fujiwara, known for Dragon Quest: Emblem of Roto , with Yuji Horii, the original creator of Dragon Quest, serving as supervisor. To commemorate the launch, a newly drawn illustration by Fujiwara has been unveiled.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past was originally released for PlayStation on August 26 2000. The game gained widespread acclaim for its innovative world design and massive story volume. A remake of the game is scheduled for release on February 5 2026.
The story begins on Estard Island, the only island in the world, where the protagonist lives with his friend Kiefer. Their routine explorations of the island eventually lead them to an unknown new world. In this mysterious realm, they encounter monsters that do not exist on Estard Island, along with diverse characters, perilous dungeons, and powerful enemies awaiting them at every turn.

DRAGON QUEST Reimagined
In the upcoming remake releasing on February 5, additional scenarios not included in the original game will be added. These new elements feature an adult version of Kiefer. A recently released teaser video depicts him fighting alongside the protagonists, offering fans a glimpse of this expanded storyline.
