Kindergarten WARS Anime Adaptation Announced: Former Hitman Rita and Con Artist Doug Star in a Violent Romantic Comedy, PV Released

The anime adaptation of Kindergarten WARS has been officially announced, bringing the popular violence romantic comedy manga by You Chiba to television. The project was unveiled at the Jump Festa 2026 stage event, where a teaser visual, character visuals, main staff details, and a voice comic promotional video were revealed simultaneously.

The story takes place at Black Kindergarten, an unusual facility attended by the children of politicians, global corporate leaders, and Hollywood stars. Established under government initiative, the kindergarten employs dangerous criminals as special instructors in exchange for reduced sentences, tasking them with protecting the children’s lives. This unconventional premise has drawn attention for its bold mix of action and comedy.

The protagonist Rita is a former legendary hitman who now works as a rookie teacher while actively searching for a boyfriend. Despite her overwhelming combat skills, she has a critical weakness for handsome men and cannot help falling for enemies if they look attractive. This contrast between deadly ability and romantic vulnerability defines her character.

The newly released teaser visual depicts Rita, voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki, standing in the schoolyard of Black Kindergarten alongside senior teacher Doug, a former con artist voiced by Kentaro Kumagai. Surrounded by kindergarten children, the image presents a surreal and impactful composition. The character visuals also showcase their friendly daily appearances, highlighting a stark contrast with their combat personas.

The anime is produced by Sunrise, with Shinsuke Gomi serving as director and Junko Yamanaka handling character design. The voice comic PV features newly recorded dialogue between Rita and Doug, hinting at shifts in their relationship and setting expectations for their on screen dynamic.
