Yona of the Dawn has officially concluded after a 16 year serialization, while simultaneously delighting fans with the announcement of a sequel anime project. The popular manga written by Mizuho Kusanagi reached its final chapter in issue No. 2 of Hana to Yume, released on the 19th by Hakusensha, marking the end of a journey that began in 2009.

Story Overview

The series tells the story of Princess Yona, whose peaceful life is destroyed when her beloved cousin Soo Won stages a rebellion and murders her father, the king. Forced to flee her homeland, Yona grows through encounters with various companions and gradually learns to face her destiny. The work is widely praised for its character development and emotional storytelling.

The manga has surpassed 15 million copies in cumulative circulation. It was adapted into a television anime series in 2014, followed by stage adaptations in 2016 starring Risa Niigaki and in 2018 starring Rina Ikoma. A musical adaptation was staged in 2024, further broadening the franchise across multiple formats.

It was also announced that Hana to Yume issue No. 6, scheduled for release on February 20, will feature a special side story along with a bonus fan book. On the same day, Volume 47 of the manga will be released, marking the final collected volume of the series.
