Universal Studios Japan has officially announced its first collaboration with Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, joining the lineup for Universal Cool Japan 2026. The event, which immerses guests in highly realistic worlds of globally popular entertainment from Japan, will run from January 30, 2026. Frieren, Fern and Stark appear in the newly released teaser visual, revealed to mark the announcement.

Universal Cool Japan 2026 brings together five major IPs currently beloved by audiences. These include Detective Conan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, the Masquerade series based on Keigo Higashino’s works and Monster Hunter Wilds. Each franchise will feature its own attraction or interactive experience.

Among them, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will make its Universal Studios Japan debut in early summer 2026. The teaser visual released today highlights the three central characters Frieren, Fern and Stark.

The original manga Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 2020. This after-story fantasy series explores what happens after the hero’s party has already defeated the Demon King. The elf mage Frieren embarks on a new journey in a world without the hero, forming new bonds and confronting new challenges. Known for its emotional storytelling, poignant dialogue and a balance of magic, sword combat and humor, the series won the Grand Prize at the Manga Taisho 2021 and has surpassed 30 million copies in circulation.

The first season of the TV anime aired from September 2023 to March 2024. The highly anticipated second season will begin on January 16, 2026.
