The newest entry in the long-running Ashibe series, Third Grader Ashibe QQ Goma-chan(JP: 小3アシベ QQ ゴマちゃん), will receive a TV anime adaptation in spring 2026. This short-form anime follows Ashibe and Sugao as newly minted third graders, capturing their slightly more mature daily lives while Goma-chan continues to play an energetic role at the center of the story.

Animation production is handled by DLE, the studio known for Secret Society Eagle Talon and Style of Hiroshi Nohara’s LUNCH. A new teaser PV has been released alongside the announcement.

The Ashibe series began in 1988 with the first installment Shonen Ashibe, which ran in Weekly Young Jump. The story follows the everyday life of first grader Ashibe Ashiya and his baby spotted seal, Goma-chan. The title was first adapted into an anime in 1991 and 1992 and later revived with the new series Shonen Ashibe GO! GO! Goma-chan, broadcast from 2016 to 2019 across four seasons.

The newly adapted Third Grader Ashibe QQ Goma-chan is currently serialized in Futabasha’s Manga Action.
