The new anime series DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS（Working Title） is set to stream exclusively on Disney + Star in 2027. Based on Hideo Kojima’s globally acclaimed game DEATH STRANDING, the project was unveiled during the Disney + Original Preview 2025 event held by The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Convention Center.

Since its release in 2019, DEATH STRANDING has earned international praise for its innovative gameplay and worldbuilding, reaching over twenty million players worldwide. The upcoming anime series will explore the same world and time period as the game, but will focus on the lives of “nameless individuals” surviving in different locations apart from the protagonist Sam. Their stories examine human resilience, solitude and the ways people search for connection in a world facing existential collapse.

The production team features notable creators. Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer, while animation is handled by E and H production, known for titles such as BULLET/BULLET and NINJAKAMUI. Directing the series is Takayuki Sano from the same studio. The newly released concept art is illustrated by renowned artist Ilya Kuvshinov, known for character design work on Ghost in the Shell SAC 2045. Kuvshinov also serves as the character design concept artist for this series.

The artwork depicts a boy and a girl accompanied by familiar items and gadgets that appeared in the original game. What lies in the world before them, and what fate awaits the two? A new chapter of DEATH STRANDING begins on Disney + Star.
