BECK’s Protagonist Koyuki “Was Waiting for Oasis Too” — Harold Sakuishi Unveils New Illustration to Celebrate Oasis’s Return to Japan After 16 Years
British rock band Oasis, who reunited in August last year, has been captivating fans worldwide with their “Oasis Live ‘25” reunion tour that began in July. Their long-awaited concerts at Tokyo Dome on October 25 and 26 drew more than 100,000 fans over two days, marking a powerful full-scale comeback that even surpassed their peak years.

Ahead of their Japan visit, various media outlets ran special features, and during the concert period, Tokyo streets were filled with fans wearing the Oasis logo, sparking what local outlets called an “Oasis fever.”
To commemorate the band’s first visit to Japan in 16 years, Harold Sakuishi, creator of the iconic rock manga BECK, unveiled a newly drawn illustration. The artwork features Koyuki, the manga’s protagonist, striking a pose reminiscent of Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

Serialized in Monthly Shonen Magazine from 1999, BECK stands as a milestone in rock-themed manga, featuring multiple references to Oasis. Its 2010 live-action film adaptation even used “Don’t Look Back in Anger” as its theme song, underscoring the deep connection between the manga and the band.
When Oasis entered their 15-year hiatus between the end of BECK’s serialization in 2008 and the film’s release in 2010, Sakuishi himself was already an avid fan of the band. His latest illustration is a heartfelt expression of that admiration.

The artwork also appears in the official Oasis campaign video “#lookback25 connected Ver.”, which compiles clips submitted by fans across Japan who had been eagerly waiting for the band’s return. The video was released on Oasis’s official YouTube channel the night before their Japan concerts.
