The theatrical anime ALL YOU NEED IS KILL will hit theaters in Japan on January 9, 2026. Along with the release date, a main trailer and key visual have been unveiled, marking the first reveal of the character voices of the cast including Ai Mikami, who makes her voice acting debut as protagonist Rita, and Natsuki Hanae as Keiji.

Based on the novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, which also inspired a Hollywood film, the anime is directed by Kenichiro Akimoto, who served as art director for Poupelle of Chimney Town (2020), and produced by STUDIO4°C, known for acclaimed works such as Tekkonkinkreet and Children of the Sea.

While the original novel followed Keiji’s growth through repeated deaths in a brutal time loop, the anime adaptation shifts focus to Rita, retelling the story from her unique perspective.

The trailer opens with Rita’s striking line, “Death is, in a way, an ally”, which also serves as the film’s tagline. The story begins when mysterious alien creatures known as Darols invade Earth. Rita finds herself trapped in a time loop, where every time she dies, she returns to the same morning with her memories intact. Using her accumulated knowledge and combat experience, she continues to fight against overwhelming odds, but the endless solitude begins to take its toll. Her fateful encounter with Keiji, who shares the same looping fate, gradually changes her heart.

The trailer also debuts the film’s theme song “Tsuretette”, performed by AKASAKI, a 19-year-old university student and singer-songwriter. The key visual features Rita in battle against the alien enemy, depicted in STUDIO4°C’s signature vivid color palette.
