Box Office Ranking: “Demon Slayer” Movie Tops for 7 Consecutive Weeks, “Exit 8” at No. 2, “The Karate Kid: Legends” Debuts at No. 7

According to the latest nationwide box office ranking (compiled by Kogyo Tsushinsha, covering August 29–31), “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc: Part 1 – Akaza’s Return” drew 706,000 viewers and earned 1.095 billion yen ($ 7,42million) over the three-day weekend, holding the No. 1 spot for seven consecutive weeks. Its cumulative performance has now surpassed 21.1 million admissions and 29.9 billion yen ($2.03 billion) in revenue.

At No. 2, “Exit 8”—a live-action

At No. 2, “Exit 8”—a live-action adaptation by director Genki Kawamura of KOTAKE CREATE’s globally popular infinite loop game, starring Kazunari Ninomiya—attracted 672,000 viewers and grossed 954 million yen ($6.49 million) over its opening three days. This marks the strongest start among live-action films released in Japan this year. The cast also includes Yamato Kochi, Nana Komatsu, and Kotone Hanase. Currently showing in standard and IMAX formats, the film will expand to MX4D, 4DX, SCREENX, ULTRA 4DX, and Dolby Cinema screenings from September 12.

No. 3 went to “Kokuho”,

No. 3 went to “Kokuho”, still enjoying enduring popularity in its 13th week of release, with 335,000 viewers and 490 million yen ($3.33 million) over the weekend. Its cumulative box office has surpassed 8.86 million admissions and 12.4 billion yen ($83.97 million).
