[Spoiler] Zanka's Hidden Past

Zanka was born into the well respected Nijiku family, a household known for producing generations of Hell Guards who serve as both police and military in the Pit. His older brother and sister were also part of this elite force, and Zanka himself was expected to follow in their footsteps. He worked hard behind the scenes, always got top grades, and started to see himself as something of a genius.

But that confidence was quickly shattered by a transfer student from the slums. The newcomer took the top spot in the class, making Zanka lose the status he had always had. His pride was pretty badly wounded.

Things got even worse during a practical training class where students were allowed to choose their own weapons. While the others picked up guns, swords, or clubs, Zanka chose what he thought was an ordinary staff. He thought that a plain, unremarkable stick might secretly turn out to be the strongest weapon. Honestly, it was just a plain old stick ... nothing more than a simple tool, not a weapon.

It was when he was at his lowest point and even thinking about giving up on life that Enjin appeared. The head of the Cleaners happened to be passing by, heard Zanka's story, and said, "Any regular person just has to beat a genius." Zanka hadn't given up, and Enjin's words made him want to keep going. He decided to prove that someone ordinary could beat the gifted.

The "junk stick" he chose in his despair later became his Vital Instrument, the Lovely Assistaff, which he now treasures as his partner.
