On the 25th, it was announced that a new TV anime series based on the manga "Ghost in the Shell" will be produced and is set to air in 2026. The animation will be handled by Science SARU, known for works such as "Inu-Oh" and "Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!" Additionally, a teaser video and visual have been released.

"Ghost in the Shell" is an SF (science fiction) work by manga artist Masamune Shirow, which began serialization in the 5th issue of the youth magazine "Young Magazine Extra Pirate Edition" in 1989. The story revolves around Major Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg with superior abilities in cybernetic warfare and combat. As the leader of the offensive team "Section 9," she takes on increasingly complex and heinous crimes.

The series has also seen various media adaptations, including Mamoru Oshii’s 1995 animated film "GHOST IN THE SHELL," along with other animated works and a Hollywood live-action film, continuously captivating and inspiring audiences worldwide.

The announcement of the new anime was made during the official music event "DEEP DIVE in sync with GHOST IN THE SHELL" held in Tokyo on the 25th. The teaser video highlights iconic scenes from the original comic, hinting at the drama to be depicted in the new anime.

The teaser visual features an illustration from the original comic, depicting the full-body cyborg protagonist Motoko Kusanagi and the AI-equipped think tank Fuchikoma, evoking the essence of "Ghost in the Shell."

Additionally, to commemorate the production of the new anime, an unprecedented large-scale original art exhibition by Masamune Shirow, tentatively titled "The World of Masamune Shirow," will be held. This event will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Setagaya Literary Museum’s opening and is scheduled for spring 2025.
