The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch has been enchanting readers since it first hit the pages of Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket on March 16, 2022. Blending magical academy intrigue with a dash of mystery, the story follows Spica Virgo, a witch apprentice who—ironically—can’t actually use magic.

Spica dreams of getting into her ideal magic school, but there's a hitch: she needs a mentor to help her pass the entrance exam. The problem? She’s got no money and zero connections. Things seem bleak... until a certain black cat crosses her path.

But this isn’t just any cat. He talks like a human and can use magic—clearly no ordinary feline. As fate would have it, he’s under a curse he’s desperate to break. Spica wants to learn magic, and the cat needs someone who might just help him lift his curse. With that, a secretive partnership is born—a magical mentor and his unlikely apprentice.

The manga currently has 11 collected volumes in print and has been a fan favorite for adaptation since its early serialization.

■ Author Yosuke Kaneda’s Comment

When my editor told me that “the cat witch anime is happening!” I was filled with joy, but also a bit of panic thinking, “Wait, Claude’s that is going nationwide!?” Still, with the support of a fantastic team and cast, I’m now simply looking forward to the broadcast. I’m thrilled to experience another anime adaptation, and I hope we can all enjoy this festive time together!

■ Spica Virgo (Voiced by Kaede Hondo)
I’m Kaede Hondo, and I’ll be voicing Spica. When I first recorded her voice for the PV, I felt the charm of this series so deeply that I sincerely hoped I could continue portraying her. I’m not only excited that this wonderful story is being adapted into an anime, but I’m also incredibly grateful to keep playing Spica. Thank you for your support!

■ Claude Sirius (Voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki)
I never imagined I’d be given the role of a character who’s both a teacher and a mascot (maybe?). I feel honored and humbled to be entrusted with such a unique role—it makes me think maybe I’ve grown enough to take it on. I look forward to growing with Claude and helping build a fun classroom with everyone. Thank you!
