The TV anime You and I Are Polar Opposites (JP: 『正反対な君と僕』, Seihantai na Kimi to Boku) is officially scheduled to premiere in January 2026. It will air every Sunday at 5:00 PM JST across 28 nationwide stations affiliated with MBS and TBS.

A second promotional video (PV) has been unveiled alongside the announcement. Sayumi Suzushiro will voice the female lead, Suzuki, while Shogo Sakata will play the male lead, Tani. Music production is handled by the acclaimed artist tofubeats.

In the newly released PV, Suzuki struggles to express her feelings toward Tani while being overly conscious of how others perceive her. Meanwhile, Tani begins to take notice of Suzuki’s behavior, leading both characters to reveal their inner thoughts through monologues.

About You and I Are Polar Opposites

You and I Are Polar Opposites is a romantic comedy that follows Suzuki, a cheerful girl who constantly worries about how she's perceived by others, and Tani, a quiet boy who speaks his mind without hesitation. The story centers on Suzuki’s awkward, one-sided affection for Tani, which often manifests in clumsy interactions.

The manga originally debuted on the Shonen Jump+ app in May 2022 and concluded on November 25, 2024. To date, the manga has surpassed 1.45 million copies in total circulation.

I'm Sayumi Suzushiro, and I will be playing the role of Suzuki! When I auditioned, I found so many aspects of Suzuki that I related to even before stepping into the character, that it felt as if I was performing as myself. Since this was a series I truly loved, I was overjoyed to be chosen for the role.

The story highlights the importance of recognizing your own feelings, how difficult it can be to understand them, and what it truly means to face someone with honesty. I believe these are the kinds of messages that will resonate through this series. I’ll give my all to portray Suzuki sincerely as she engages with her complete opposite, Tani. I’ve been following You and I Are Polar Opposites since it first started running in Jump, and I’ve always admired how the series balances pop-style visuals with fresh, realistic teen dialogue—while also tackling universal emotional struggles beneath the surface. As a fan, I really enjoyed reading it.

I never imagined I’d be involved as part of the cast, so I was genuinely surprised when I was told I had passed the audition. Tani is someone who’s a bit oblivious to emotional subtleties and tends to live in a world of his own. I hope to express how meeting Suzuki brings about change in him.
