Madoka Magica Reveals First Scene Stills from New Film—The First Sequel in 12 Years Features Homura, Mami, and More
The new film Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising is set for theatrical release in February 2026. Originally scheduled for winter 2024, the release was pushed to winter 2025 due to production reasons. Now, with the official release date confirmed, fans will be getting the franchise’s first new movie in 12 years and 4 months since [New Chapter]: Rebellion premiered in October 2013. The second key visual and a trailer featuring actual animation cuts were also revealed alongside the announcement.

TV Broadcast of Re-edited "Beginnings" and "Eternal" Films Set for October 2025
Additionally, a new TV Edition of Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Beginnings / Eternal is scheduled to air during the October 2025 programming block on the MBS/TBS network’s nationwide “Nichigo” (Sunday 5pm) slot. This edition is a re-edited version of the two 2012 compilation films—Beginnings and Eternal—and will be broadcast across 28 stations nationwide. The exact premiere date will be announced at a later time.

Walpurgisnacht: Rising to Continue the Story from Rebellion
Walpurgisnacht: Rising serves as the direct sequel to the 2013 film [New Chapter]: Rebellion. Returning staff members include Akiyuki Shinbo as Chief Director, Gen Urobuchi (Nitroplus) as Scriptwriter, Ume Aoki as Original Character Designer, and Yuki Kajiura as Composer. Animation production is once again handled by SHAFT. A second edition of the movie’s advance ticket (MoviTicke) with bonus items will go on sale starting July 18. The bonus will include a limited-edition A4 clear file featuring the second key visual.

About the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Franchise
