The anime will be directed by Rie Matsumoto, known for her work on Blood Blockade Battlefront and GOTCHA!. This marks her return to directing a TV anime series after ten years.
Bones, the studio behind anime titles such as Fullmetal Alchemist, My Hero Academia, and Eureka Seven, will handle the animation production. The staff from Blood Blockade Battlefront and GOTCHA! will reunite for this project. STORY inc., known for producing the film Suzume, will oversee the production. This is their first involvement in a TV anime series.

The original manga follows Chrono, a protagonist who uses a time machine called the "Retry Eye," embedded in his right eye, to repeatedly travel back in time to save people who have met tragic fates. The story emphasizes perseverance, with Chrono committed to saving everyone involved, regardless of the circumstances.
The manga has received praise from several prominent creators, including Mizuki Tsujimura (The Solitary Castle in the Mirror), Genki Kawamura (If Cats Disappeared from the World), Kazutaka Kodaka (Danganronpa), Taiyo Fujii (Hello World), Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), and Eve (Kaikai Kitan). Nine volumes have been released so far, with the tenth volume scheduled for release on the 28th of this month.

Availability and Schedule
To celebrate the anime adaptation, all chapters of the Fate Rewinder manga are available for free on the Weekly CoroCoro Comic website for 72 hours, ending at 5:59 p.m. on July 13. A character popularity poll is also underway, with voting open on the official website until 11:59 p.m. on August 31.
Futa Kimura will draw a special illustration featuring the top three characters based on poll results. Fans who participate via X (formerly Twitter) using the hashtag "#巻戻士人気投票" will have a chance to win one of three signed illustration boards by Kimura.
Additionally, the August issue of Monthly CoroCoro Comic, releasing around July 15, will feature Chrono on the cover and lead color pages to commemorate the anime announcement. The artwork will differ from the magazine’s usual vibrant style, using a more subdued color palette.
