The story and preview stills for Episode 1 of the anime Uglymug, Epicfighter (JP: ブサメンガチファイター) have been revealed. The episode is set to air in Japan on Sunday, July 6, at 11:30 p.m. JST. It will also be available on various streaming platforms worldwide shortly thereafter.

Episode 1

Shigeru Yoshioka (age 34), a man who even he himself admits is ugly, had his life upended after being falsely accused of groping. Now unemployed and a shut-in, he spends his days in despair.

One day, he stumbles upon a forum post explaining “how to travel to another world.” When he gives it a try, a mysterious status screen suddenly appears on his computer. Shigeru configures his stats, choosing to reduce his appearance score to the lowest possible level in exchange for a massive amount of bonus points.

Upon awakening in a fantasy world, Shigeru begins a new life as the “uglymug” character he designed himself.

Introduction

Shigeru Yoshioka, a 34-year-old recluse scarred by deep distrust of women, stumbles upon a way to travel to another world. Sacrificing his appearance in exchange for overwhelming stats, he begins a new life in a fantasy realm as an “Absolute God,” ready to rewrite his fate in this second life.
