“I Don’t Care” Ending Animation Reaches Peak Meaning in Gundam GQuuuuuuX Finale

The 12th and final episode of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX aired on the 25th and has ignited widespread discussion. In particular, viewers are abuzz about how the ending animation set to the song I Don’t Care (JP: もうどうなってもいいや, Mou Dounattemo Iiya) was revealed to contain hidden foreshadowing. (Warning: spoilers ahead.)

In the final scene of episode 12, Machu (Amate Yuzuriha) and Nyaan are seen wearing swimsuits and having a friendly chat on a beach on Earth. On social media, fans pointed out that the swimsuits, beach parasol, and other items they use in the scene were already subtly included in the ending animation—sparking excitement for the clever attention to detail.

On social media, users have been buzzing over the reveal in the ending animation, sharing reactions like the following:
“I thought the life they shared in the ED was just a fleeting dream we never got to see… But it turns out it was a happy ending set on Earth after everything had been resolved. I totally got tricked—thank you for saving me!”

“Wait, did we actually reach the ED timeline? (Machu and Nyaan living together route!)”

“So the ED really was just a snapshot of Machu and Nyaan’s life together. It’s way too wholesome. Thanks for giving every couple their moment—please let Egza and Comoli appear in a spinoff too.”

“They’re clearly living together on Earth now. I can’t hold back tears for the staff who left just enough room for imagination. Who said the cohabitation ED was just a fantasy dress code?”

“I’m so glad the ED wasn’t just a symbolic image—it was something that actually happened. They’ll probably chase after Shuji for a while, but eventually, that too will become a memory as they grow into adulthood.”

“That insurance policy to shift to the cohabitation ED after the twist in Episode 11… it actually paid off.”

“Can we agree that this was Machu and Nyaan’s cohabitation end? That ED animation was the real deal.”

“Now that I’ve seen the final episode… I realize the ‘I Don’t Care’ ending was a spoiler all along.”

“I have a lot to say about GQuuuuuuX, but I’m just happy that the ED—once thought to be a false memory—was brought back and used to close out the story with Machu and Nyaan reconciling. Even Suisei Hoshimachi must be smiling from the beyond.”

“GQuuuuuuX was already great in the advance screening, but what truly hooked me was that brain-melting ED animation. From ‘Let’s be MAVs!’ to living together in the ending—I’m fully satisfied.”
