The stage adaptation of Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, the acclaimed historical manga by Uoto, has revealed its principal cast members and solo visuals. Masataka Kubota, known for his emotionally intense performances, takes on the role of Oczy—a gladiator who fears looking at the sky and has lost hope in the world.

Toko Miura portrays Jolenta, a passionate astronomer grappling with societal restrictions on women. Yusuke Onuki plays Gras, a man who passes on hope for the future to Oczy. Additional cast includes Sakura Kiryu as Draka, Mitsuru Fukikoshi as Antoni, and Song Ha as Badeni, the monk who reaches the truth of heliocentrism after meeting Oczy. Mirai Moriyama portrays the inquisitor Nowak, a man who relentlessly pursues heretics in the name of peace and justice.

Rafal will be played in a double cast by Ousuke Ono and Komai Mahiro, who also serve as singers in the production.

The production brings together an international creative team to present a unique blend of physical expression, theatrical performance, and live music.

From Manga to Stage

Originally serialized in Big Comic Spirits in 2020, Orb quickly gained nationwide popularity. It earned second place in the 2021 Manga Taishō and won the Grand Prize at the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. An anime adaptation aired on NHK General TV, with its final episode recently broadcast.

The stage play runs from October 8 to 26, 2025, at the Middle Theatre of the New National Theatre Tokyo, followed by performances in Aichi, Hiroshima, Osaka, and Fukuoka.
