Tsubasa Becomes a Father! Sanae Gives Birth to Twin Sons in Latest Chapter of Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS

In Chapter 50 of the latest Captain Tsubasa installment, Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS by Yoichi Takahashi, Tsubasa Ozora’s wife, Sanae (née Nakazawa), has given birth to twin sons. Though the twins—Hayate (疾風) and Daibu (大舞)—had previously appeared in the 2006 short story collection Captain Tsubasa DREAM FIELD 1, this marks their official birth within the main storyline.

Currently serialized weekly on the official Captain Tsubasa WORLD website and Young Jump! in name-based draft format, Rising Sun FINALS is the series' concluding arc. The story is set during the semifinals of the fierce Madrid Olympics. Tsubasa leads Japan’s U-23 national team against Spain, whose squad includes the formidable “Angel” Michael, as the match enters its second half. The stakes: a place in the Olympic final.

Amid this intense competition in Spain, back in Japan, Sanae—pregnant with their children—undergoes an emergency cesarean section after being rushed to the hospital. Unaware of this, Tsubasa continues battling on the pitch, even sustaining a head injury during the match. Despite the pressure, his resolve strengthens: “I must reach the final against Brazil, where my mentor Roberto Hongo awaits!” he declares.

His drive deepens with the knowledge that the day of the final is also the expected birth date of his children. “That day... our twins are due to be born! For the sake of their new lives, I must be on that Olympic final pitch!” Tsubasa cries out before launching a powerful shot, revealing the determination of a man about to become a father.

The story then shifts to Japan, where Sanae successfully completes surgery, and the sound of newborn cries—“Waaah!’”—reaches the waiting room, confirming a safe delivery.

While the existence of Tsubasa and Sanae’s twin sons had been known through past works, this is the first time their birth has been depicted in the main storyline. When asked via editorial inquiry to confirm whether these are indeed the same twins, creator Yoichi Takahashi replied, “Yes, they are Hayate and Daibu! Please continue to look forward to Tsubasa’s journey as a new father!”
