"'Demon Slayer': Gyomei's Command 'Sit Down' Stirs Buzz; Giyuu Walks Away Amidst Comments 'Impressive' and 'I Laughed'"
The new installment of the popular anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," titled "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc," was broadcast on Fuji TV on the 12th.
In the first episode, the Hashiras gathered at the Ubuyashiki residence for a Hashira meeting, where Muichiro explained the method for manifesting marks. This led to the initiation of Hashira training to bolster the overall strength of the Demon Slayer Corps.
At the meeting, Giyuu Tomioka displayed a detached attitude, stating, "I'm different from you guys," and "It'd be better if the six of you discuss this. It has nothing to do with me." Sanemi Shinazugawa snapped back, "Hey, wait. That's rude," and Kyojuro Rengoku questioned, "What do you mean it has nothing to do with you? You lack the awareness of being a Hashira," while Shinobu Kocho demanded, "Mr. Tomioka, please explain yourself. You're definitely not saying enough." Amid the escalating tension, Gyomei Himejima clapped his hands and quieted everyone with a firm "Sit down." However, in the next scene of the meeting, Tomioka was absent, leading to online reactions like, "When you think about it, it's impressive how Giyuu didn't sit down even after Gyomei told him to," "Giyuu actually walked away ignoring Gyomei's 'I have something to say, sit down'—that's something," "If Gyomei tells you to sit, you sit down," "Giyuu eventually left even though Gyomei told him to sit down," and "It made me laugh that Giyuu was just absent after being told to sit down by Gyomei."
"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc" is based on volumes 15 and 16 of the original manga, depicting a story where Tanjiro and his comrades receive training from the highest-ranked swordsmen, the Hashiras, to become stronger. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from February 2016 to May 2020, becoming a hugely popular series with over 150 million copies of the comics in circulation. Set in the Taisho era in a world inhabited by man-eating demons, the story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who joins the "Demon Slayer Corps" to avenge his family killed by demons and to turn his demon-turned sister Nezuko back into a human. The first season of the anime aired from April to September 2019, becoming a cultural phenomenon. This was followed by the blockbuster movie "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train," which continued from the final episode of the anime and became a major hit, surpassing 40 billion yen in domestic box office earnings. The second season, "Entertainment District Arc," broadcast from December 2021, and the third season, "Swordsmith Village Arc," started airing in April 2023.
